After I died, I tried going back to my save slots but all my progress was deleted. I'm playing on safari and I didn't refresh my screen or anything so can someone tell me what I did wrong. Love the game btw <3.
The save data is stored in your browser's local storage, so maybe it was deleted if the cache was cleared or your history was deleted? I'm not sure, but sorry that happened :<
This was great work! I don't even know where to start on the praise.
I loved the artwork and the designs, both the characters and the monsters. Some of them honestly reminded me of some Fear and Hunger enemies (most particularly the entity that attacks the intern).
Trying to piece together the story of the game was also fun. I didn't trust Eva nor did I trust Noh or J, but I especially didn't trust Eva because Noh was very clearly mentally out of it and was just doing what came to mind.
SPOILERS
It clicked to me fast that Eva was the Perfect Human prototype, just before the scene where the intern gets attacked. I remembered that aside from the intern pointing out that she was a patient when we first rescue him, Eva remembered the name Merck despite it being a bit hard to read at first. The plaque we read confirmed it after mentioning a Merck Johnson. I won't lie; I clocked that Eva was Merck's daughter when J consoled Eva in the room with the large computer by referring to her as [My Sweet Child] and the fact that he indicated only her escaping with the word [you] being in orange text.
As for the endings, the only one's I want to talk about are Noh's, Eva's, and the True Ending. Mostly the themes of co-dependency surrounding each of them.
I got Noh's first. I was curious honestly and was surprised at how oddly romantic it was. Sad yes, but it was strange to see him care for Moku in their final moments. He acknowledges that Moku wants to remain human/retain some of their humanity and had them form a literal co-dependent relationship. Moku only survives because Noh uses his body to protect them from outside enemies and their humanity stays intact because Noh eats away the growth on them. Comparatively, Moku gives Noh a sense of purpose to protect and survives by eating at Moku's growth. His brain can handle the pain and he can keep the growth from consuming him. Something about that, just seemed so strangely romantic to me.
I went for Eva's next. Even before they make it to the pods, Eva admits how she values Moku's opinions of her. How she wants them to like her and trust her and doesn't think she'd be able to do much without them. She states her co-dependency outright. When Moku has her escape, they do come back for Moku, but Moku isn't able to do much. They rely on her as their caretaker, and Eva, because of what she promised to force the Construction Company to get Moku, she relies on Moku's input for everything she does or doesn't do. Another co-dependent dynamic that the two of them are trapped in for the foreseeable eternity because they can't live without each other. If Moku were to succumb to the growth, Eva would lose herself and go with them. If Eva somehow loses her life, Moku's ending would be much like the Lone Ending, being constantly monitored.
The True Ending was very much a sad ending for all. I wasn't hoping for a miracle, but somehow it ended up being more tragic than anything. The last-ditch effort the Intern made to turn us away was a bit overshadowed by what followed after. Fusing Noh and Eva into an amalgamated mess and then inserting it inside Moku to take to the surface. The three of them forever bound together as humanity's last hope for survival. They all ended up losing. Moku lost the humanity the sought after, Eva never got to be a normal girl who got to go to school and make friends, and while Noh didn't seemingly have anything he wanted, he did want to protect Moku. Offering to kill everyone while Moku made a run for it was a last-ditch effort and he didn't fight it when Moku told him it wouldn't make a difference. I can't imagine the pain their new existence brings to each other. Dependent and at the whims of people who see them as a product to be cloned and sold. Just sucks overall for everyone involved.
Thank you for this creation. I look forward to your next works.
I really want to play this game but when I download the Human Construction Site_Mac.zip (I have a mac), It downloads but then says it can't be opened; "the application 'app' can't be opened". I tried to play the version on itch.io but I don't know how to save it, pressing 'x' doesn't work :(. I hope to find a way to use the game.
Sorry I don't have a Mac so I'm not sure how to fix that, but in regards to the browser or any other version of the game you can only save when the game lets you~
Hii I guess you have already played it but if it ever happens again to you, you have to type things in the terminal to unlock it. I just asked gemini for the code to open it <3
It was a location right after the guy with knife (there the player trade fork for knife). Game did start stuttering right after the player entered that location (there the MC found the USB stick and chasing start after that). It strange, but i just tested that place once again, and everything is fine now. I tried to solve the problem few times before and nothing did help.
(Sorry, English is not my first language, so I might make some mistakes)
So here it is, I just want to say that I loved the game, especially the characters. For now, I managed to get the one I wanted, that is to say the ending with Noh. The characters and the story are very well developed. I’m a big fan of games, movies, and other horror works, and it was really enjoyable to play and follow the dialogues. I also want to add that the dynamic between Noh and Moku is both complex and interesting to follow, and I find that Noh is really one of my favorite characters in the game! Finally, since I like creating songs, I made a fan song and the link is here, of course it’s not published: https://suno.com/s/EjizPSZt5aQIesKl To conclude, I would say that I would have liked to know a little more about Noh’s past. Just a small note about the song: I wrote the lyrics and came up with the music style myself . . Of course, it's just a fan song, so I'm not 100% sure about some things
BRO, I don't even know what to say other than... GAWD DAM, that was crazy, I got the Eva Ending, kinda bitter sweet. Even though this game was not visually crazy (it is a 2d game after all) the art is cool as hell, and the story... OH GAWD THE STORY where do I get started, this lore is INSANE, and I loved every bit of it, every plot twist, every character, Noh kinda a d*ckwad but whatever yaknow. Honestly I wish someone could make a movie about this game, I hope this whole story and game blow up really, because it was so cool, and I hope you continue to expand the story of this world, and if I had the resources I would attempt to make a movie on ts cus its just soo good.
I LOVE this game, like, it's not too simple, but also not too complicated and the story is easy to follow.
(SPOILERS)
I wish eva had more scars tho, it would also make her less sus (bc in my experience I knew she's up to something the SECOND I saw her for some reason lol-).
basically my favroite game ever!! i come back to it every few weeks and i just have to say its really awesome!!! i would ask for a spin off or a continuation of the story but thats just me wanting more content :p the story is amaxing the way it is!!
Awe it makes me so happy to hear that! I do have a game about Noh in mind which would show the world a bit more, but I won't be working on it for a while > - <
I have a prequal game with Noh in mind (How he gets caught by the HCS), but I'm working on a different game so I probably won't get to it for a while :x
hii I really liked this game tho sometimes it was too hard for me lol. Noh's ending was my favorite! unfortunately I can't get the true ending :( I got the blue eye and saved the intern from the monster with the pipe but at the end I still only get the alone ending idk why, how do I know that my affection score is high enough? I also didn't get the lone death ending. I will play again and try to get all the endings tho, great game! ^^
I got the true ending ! came to find out that I'm stupid and thought I had the blue eye when I only had the orange one :| idk how I didn't realize that earlier
I have a lot of mixed feelings about these endings, in a good way, tho it's hard to articulate them for me because english is not my first language. I liked that there wasn't really any conventionally "good" ending, neither for Moku nor for humans as a whole; there's obv the moral question "is it worth abandoning our humanity for the survival of our species? is it unfortunate yet necessary to sacrifice most people's lives for the benefit of the elites just to keep the human race alive?", but the true end also allows for a literal loss of humanity by abandoning the human body, which makes me wonder if a "perfect human" could even be considered to be a "human" at this point
this was fun to play overall and I had a much easier time to get through the hard parts this second time ^^
as a side note I was wondering if Moku's real name was possible to find out, kinda like an easter egg in the game?? because one of the options after saving Eva lets me change their name (which I haven't actually done however) so I was curious
Glad you finished it! And thank you for sharing your thoughts~ (∩^∀^)∩
You can change your name to anything when Eva asks, I sorta left Moku a blank slate - so their gender isn't mentioned either, their name and who they are is sorta up to the player.
But it seems Moku's the most popular character so maybe I should've given them a background and story, aha. ( ̄▽ ̄;)
Hello, I'm liking the game so far, but I feel like there aren't enough clues as to how to solve most of the puzzles. I find myself getting stuck and dying over and over because I just have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Like right now, I have no clue how to move the things to block the way from the white-haired guy while carrying the black shirt guy on my back, and there's no real hint as to what you're supposed to do besides telling you that you can't move them with him on your back. I like a challenging game, but it's slightly frustrating.
Hi. The game seemed really interesting and I enjoyed my experience so far but the save points are just too far away for me to complete it.
I like to explore and even die on purpose just to see what happens but it's very annoying to get pushed so far back and have to skip through scenes and dialogues so many times again to return where I was.
I'll stop my experience with your game here, do let me know if you're gonna add more save points in the future. Thank you for reading.
Hi! I really love the game , it was great! But I can´t guet the eva ending. When I arrive to the capsule with her it dosen´t give me the option to let her ride it. What I have to do? (sorry for my english is not my first lenguage)
Np! If you're playing the browser version you won't have to do anything, but if you're playing a downloadable version you might want to download the new file and copy paste your saves.
You can do this by finding the save folder in your old game -
how can I unlock the true end? I arrived at the pod and when I selected "lets find another way around" nothing really happen and I just wandering around the trapped area.
Wow, surprised you got that far on mobile :o Sorry, the game was never really designed for mobile but I uploaded it due to request - would clicking on the character work maybe?
I kinda lost my proccess cus it was on my school ipad but now im trying to download on mobile but idk where to open it, cus it only recommends drawing apps, and once i open it what do i click on to play it? Love your game so far by theway 😭
Hmm I guess it would be in your downloaded files? Or list of apps in the settings maybe? I can check how it works later, but either way the game's chase sequences later in the game are too hard to beat on mobile I think, so you might want to play on a computer if you can! You can play on browser that way too, and won't need to download anything~
Sorry about that, it's a bug I can't really fix when you play through the itch app but one comment said if you go to the img/characters file directory, find the $forklift file(s), copy them and replace the "$" with "%24" it'll fix it.
Alternatively you can play the windows version, I've made a file with a savepoint near the warehouse~ This is an old version of the game with less savepoints so it'll be harder to beat though. (;^ω^)
This is such an immersive experience for me :3! Without going into major plot spoilers (but it does touch on the game's themes), I just want to say the themes of this game really stayed with me. It made me think a lot about how people talk about choices like trolley-problem-type dilemmas. No matter how people talked about it, in the end, real life is about making a decision between imperfect options.
What felt most powerful to me was that the game made me ask myself what I would actually choose to do if I were in this situation. Whether humanity continues or not feels grand but empty for me. I'd spend my final time to take care and stay with people I care about, supporting what they wish to do, cuz their grief and pain are real in a way that I cannot turn away from.
I played in browser and ran into a few funny little bugs :3 nothing game-breaking though (throughout all endings). Only if you ever want bug details, I'd be happy to share them, but honestly they were kind of fun.
The Mac version seems to have some issues on Mac. If I get chance, I'd love to help look into that, and maybe also make a Chinese localization.
Thank you for making such a memorable game! Hope every player experiences it can find a path of their own.
Glad you could experience it that way, I wanted players to question morality while playing so I'm happy to hear that (^o^)/
Ah that would be helpful, thank you! I know there's an issue with the pipe staying on the sprite, and I've heard of people having an issue with a monster ignoring them and just going after Eva - please let me know if there are others!
I'm not sure if I'll be able to fix the Mac issues since I don't have one to check, but a Chinese localization would be awesome! :O
No problem, thank you for your comment and I hope so too~
My partner helped me fix the Mac version bug, and the current version can now run successfully on both of our Macs. How would you like us to share the file with you?
If there are future versions, we would also be happy to help test, fix, and run them on Mac :3
I also have video clips for some minor bugs, which may make it clearer what happened and where the issues occurred. I can share those together with the file.
Will keep you update if we plan to start on the Chinese localization!
I just released a new version last night with some bug fixes, could I see your video clips to see if I missed anything?
And if any of those apply to the Windows version maybe I can fix them in the next update- after that, would you be able to fix the Mac version so I can share it?
There's still some bugs that need to be fixed like the scene where Moku blacks out with Eva where the cutscene didn't trigger and I had to restart the game. There's also typos in the script that should be sorted out. Finally, some of the timed puzzles are overly punishing especially the (keeping it spoiler free) part where Moku says "they're breaking the floor and coming up" and that timed dash across the area. Also, I'm glad I read the True End hints otherwise I would never have gotten an indication of certain things that had to be done to reach it which should have been conveyed better by the game.
Story-wise I think the true ending was somewhat expected given the story hints but was depressing enough. The art for the character sprites and their portraits was amazing though especially the different expressions. I think you'll do a good job working on a visual novel.
You need to wait a few seconds for the cutscene, did it not work after 2 seconds? There should also be a save spot right before the most challenging timed dash, but it still is pretty hard so I should add an alternate route..
Thank you for your feedback! I'll double check that bug~ And maybe one day work on a visual novel.. would love to be a sprite artist for one :P
It's a bit buggy because it worked after I restarted. Yeah, it'll be really cool to see a VN from you that focuses on your storytelling and art skills. Manifesting it now haha.
AMAZING 10/10! Best game of the year so far, think it matched my favorite RPG game ever too.
My only issue was that the amount of save instances available were a bit limited to me but I admit I may not have the best frustration tolerance lol. I liked this game so much and was so damn intrigued though that I "finished" it by watching playthroughs.
Now I need to go do some fanart to cope, poor Moku 🥲
what am i doing wrroonnggg T-T It keeps lagging when i have to run away and i get stuck and then the monster passes by me and gets to her and i cant progress sobs
IM DEADASS IN LOVE. this game is truly amazing!! the characters are so fun im obsessed with noh </3 ts feels like playing zeno remake for the first time im gonna cryy zeno was my biggest hyperfixation for two years now but THIS.???? this game is my new top one

stayed up all night to play this it's Peak. genuinely wonderful stuff i love it and will promptly be throwing up all over my floor and dying
My friend and I had fun playing this one! I look forward to see what the creator makes next!!
DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS BEFORE PLAYING!!! (So u dont get spoilers) -BUT!! do play the game, its a tragic masterpiece.

Sorry I don't have a Mac so I'm not sure how to fix that, but in regards to the browser or any other version of the game you can only save when the game lets you~
OKAAOY THANK YOU, im very grateful for your reply of you letting me know :DD
Hii I guess you have already played it but if it ever happens again to you, you have to type things in the terminal to unlock it. I just asked gemini for the code to open it <3
I really like the game, but in some places it stuttering so bad, it is just getting unplayable. Especially in chasing scenes.
Aw sorry to hear that - are you playing on browser or a downloaded version? Maybe you can try the other?
I'm playing windows version (downloaded).
Is it a specific chase scene or all of them?
It was a location right after the guy with knife (there the player trade fork for knife). Game did start stuttering right after the player entered that location (there the MC found the USB stick and chasing start after that).
It strange, but i just tested that place once again, and everything is fine now. I tried to solve the problem few times before and nothing did help.
Hmm weird, thanks for letting me know!
My coding is bad so maybe some parts could be optimized, I'll look into it~
(Sorry, English is not my first language, so I might make some mistakes)

I prefer watching people play scary games too XD
this game is awesome, its blowing up on pinterest
Pinterest?? Cool, didn't expect that XD
holy shit you replied, are you planning any other games/making more content?
I have a prequal game with Noh in mind (How he gets caught by the HCS), but I'm working on a different game so I probably won't get to it for a while :x
holy fuck i went thru the files (dont ask why) uhhh what eva doin? why se an eye? also wtf we couldve had noh in a hospital bed?!??!?!?
hii I really liked this game tho sometimes it was too hard for me lol. Thank you!
There's a true end hints in the download section, maybe that can help?
You can get lone death if you go to the escape pods alone~
ahh somehow I missed the other file for the true ending x_x, tnx a lot I probably messed up on the second point about Noh
I got the true ending ! came to find out that I'm stupid and thought I had the blue eye when I only had the orange one :| idk how I didn't realize that earlier

Thank you!
Did you already get the true ending?
Eva's ending will trigger if you have a high affection score with her and you don't get the blue eye, since that will trigger the true ending~
But maybe I should still make it an option in the end.. I didn't think someone would get to the true ending straigh away @-@
Yes! I got the true ending. Thank you for the guide ^^ I will trie
I did! tkm
THAT WAS AMAZING
I CANT SAY ANYTHİNG BUT THAT
I LIKE THE CHARS, DESİGN, GAMEPLAY AND THE STORY
I GOT 2 ENDINGS AND MY FAVORITE WAS NOH'S ENDING HE'S ONE OF THE BEST WRITTEN CHARS IN THE GAME...

somehow i just cant make it past noh's room scene where hes trying to find his knife :(
Maybe try checking the shelves and tables~
this game is rly cool but the checkpoints are so far spread it makes the game too hard :')
I'll be making an update tonight with a few more checkpoints! And some bug fixes~
ahh ur an absolute legend:) will i have to redownload the game?
Np! If you're playing the browser version you won't have to do anything, but if you're playing a downloadable version you might want to download the new file and copy paste your saves.
You can do this by finding the save folder in your old game -
Human Construction Site Windows/www/save
-and copy + pasting it into the new version at
Human Construction Site Windows/www
Got my first ending today. Had to go with Evas route shes too precious.
Awe happy to hear that~
Didn't know Moku could look so mysterious, this is awesome!
Thank you!!!!!!
Damn, I loved this short game so much. The narrative reminded of the promised neverland which used to be my fav. Lovely work!!
I love Promised Neverland~ Thank you!
Anyone having trouble with the controls of the game?
(I'm playing on mac)
I am pressing the wasd and arrow keys and can't get the player character to move on the screen.
And also how to leave the cell?
Sorry I don't have a Mac to test things but have you tried the arrow keys?
I have and it works sometimes but other times it randomly pauses and I am once again unable to move.
I've found that spam clicking the return key works occasionally, but only occasionally.
Hmm strange, are you playing on browser? Have you tried the downloadable Mac version? Sorry I might not be able to fix the issues without a Mac.
I'll try to play it on the downloadable version!
how can I unlock the true end? I arrived at the pod and when I selected "lets find another way around" nothing really happen and I just wandering around the trapped area.
Maybe there's a path if you head down?
Anyone know which on3 i should open to play?
I'm stuck on a part where I need to press enter, and I'm on mobile, is there a way to get past?
Wow, surprised you got that far on mobile :o
Sorry, the game was never really designed for mobile but I uploaded it due to request - would clicking on the character work maybe?
I kinda lost my proccess cus it was on my school ipad but now im trying to download on mobile but idk where to open it, cus it only recommends drawing apps, and once i open it what do i click on to play it? Love your game so far by theway 😭
Hmm I guess it would be in your downloaded files? Or list of apps in the settings maybe? I can check how it works later, but either way the game's chase sequences later in the game are too hard to beat on mobile I think, so you might want to play on a computer if you can! You can play on browser that way too, and won't need to download anything~
I need help. the game is really fun so far but i got to the forklift part and it says "%24Forklift.png" wont load. could i please get help?
Sorry about that, it's a bug I can't really fix when you play through the itch app but one comment said if you go to the img/characters file directory, find the $forklift file(s), copy them and replace the "$" with "%24" it'll fix it.
Alternatively you can play the windows version, I've made a file with a savepoint near the warehouse~ This is an old version of the game with less savepoints so it'll be harder to beat though. (;^ω^)

ok thanks for the fast response and ur game is really good brto
Np, and thanks!
Thank you so much!
That's awesome, thank you guys so much! :o
I just released a new version last night with some bug fixes, could I see your video clips to see if I missed anything?
And if any of those apply to the Windows version maybe I can fix them in the next update- after that, would you be able to fix the Mac version so I can share it?
Thank you again!
ive been stuck here for a while. need help
nvm got it
hiii i loved your game, but i had some little problems, how I save the game in the middle of gameplay? ><
Sorry u can only save at checkpoints!
Since the programming for the game isn't great so the game can break depending on when u save ( ̄▽ ̄;)
Awe happy to hear that, thank you!
Might add a few more saves in a future update~
what am i doing wrroonnggg T-T It keeps lagging when i have to run away and i get stuck and then the monster passes by me and gets to her and i cant progress sobs
Weird, are you playing on windows or browser?
